My plan has been to spend the first three months of 2020 learning and improving myself, in preparation for my big job hunt beginning in April. Unfortunately, the world has gone upside down in the last few weeks. I realise this might delay my dreams a bit, but I am pretty confident that I, and everyone else, will be back on track soon.
As many others, social distancing and self-isolation helped slow down a bit and reflect on my last year. In short, it’s been great. Personally, I feel happy and settled. I am happy I took the step of following CodeYourFuture course last year, it opened my eyes to a world of possibilities, to reignite my passion about tech (and all things in general) and surrounded me with a great bunch of people. My biggest lesson learned in this year is to always surround myself with happy positive good people, like CYF folks.
I learned a lot. From React and Node, to my “detour” towards testing and autoamtion with Cypress. It was all possible because of the great mentors I was lucky to meet. My second advice to myself: No matter where I am in my career, I will have a good mentor I listen to and follow their advice.
Finally, good things happen for those who persevere. I will keep persevering, smiling and be positive. Because life and people are good.
For now, I will keep learning and applying for jobs. As part of that, I decided to take my private notes and put them in this public blog in order to boost my CV, but more importantly, to document my journey so that I hopefully look at it with a big smile in the near future.
